Acknowledgment of receipt: ”THE RIGHT REASONS”

”OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINION DOESN’T DEFINE YOU. WHATEVER THEY THINK IS THEIR PERCEPTION, NOT YOUR REALITY.”

 

I RECEIVED AN EMAIL REQUESTING FROM ME ANY ADVICE, FOR SOMEBODY WHO WANTED TO INITIATE A REGIMEN OF EXERCISES TO LOSS WEIGHT, BUT THE PERSON WAS HATING THE WHOLE THING EVEN BEFORE STARTING IT.

IN THIS MATTERS I APPLY SOME PERCEPTS THAT I USE IN DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF LIFE. INITIALLY, IN MY OPINION, WHENEVER YOU TAKE A LIFE DECISION, IF IT IS NOT BASED ON WHAT YOU WANT, BUT ON WHAT OTHERS EXPECT OR REQUEST FROM YOU, YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED. AND NOT SUCCEEDING DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN THAT YOU WILL NOT ACHIEVE WHATEVER YOUR PURPOSE IS; BUT IS SAYING THAT EVEN IF YOU DO, YOU WILL BE UNHAPPY, THE WAY TO THE FINAL LINE WILL BE AN ORDEAL. OTHERS WILL BE PLEASED WITH THE RESULT, YOU ARE GONNA FEEL EMPTINESS, NOTHING. THAT, MY FRIEND, IS NOT GONNA BE A TRIUMPH FOR YOU.

SO FIRST STEP IS ASKING YOURSELF ”WHY AM I DOING THIS. IS IT WHAT I WANT FOR MY LIFE? IS IT AT LEAST SOMETHING CRUCIAL?” LET’S SAY YOU STARTED A DIET AND ANY EXERCISE REGIME, BUT YOU ARE STRUGGLING TO CONTINUE, BECAUSE, MY DEAR, YOU STARTED IT BASED ON THAT DAY WHEN YOU HEARD YOUR GIRL SAYING THAT YOU BECAME FAT, OR YOUR HUSBAND IS ALWAYS COMPLAINING BECAUSE YOU CAN’T WALK ON HIS RHYTHM. I AM NOT SAYING THAT PEOPLE YOU LOVE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE CONSTRUCTIVE OBSERVATIONS ON YOU; THE THING IS THAT YOU NEED TO INTERNALIZE THINGS, YOU HAVE TO CONCLUDE IN YOUR MIND AND TO RECOGNIZE INSIDE OF YOU THAT YOUR JOINTS TRULY HURT, OR EVEN THAT YOU DON’T LIKE YOUR FIGURE, OR THAT YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM SHORTNESS OF BREATH; AND FOR CERTAIN YOU NEED TO LOSE SOME POUNDS TO RECOVER YOUR HEALTH. BEFORE YOU START ANY REGIMEN, YOU HAVE TO BE CONVINCED THAT YOU WANNA DO IT, NOT BECAUSE SHE/HE SAID SO, BUT BECAUSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOURSELF AS HEALTHY AS BEFORE.

YOU OWE NO EXPLANATIONS TO ANYBODY. YOU DON’T HAVE TO JUSTIFY YOUR ACTIONS. SELF ESTEEM, CONFIDENCE, RESPECT FOR YOURSELF, THAT WILL MAKE YOU ACT AND LIVE ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL, NOT BASED ON SOCIAL STANDARDS OR ON WHAT PEOPLE SURROUNDING YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT YOU.

SECOND THING IS LEARNING TO DO NOT LOOK AROUND TO MEASURE YOUR SUCCESS. CHASING WHAT OTHERS ACCOMPLISHED WILL DEVIATE YOU FROM THE ROUTE. YOUR COMPETITOR HAVE TO BE YOURSELF; YOUR OBJECTIVE: A BETTER VERSION OF YOU AND TO IMPROVE WHO YOU ARE OR HOW YOU LOOK, OR WHATEVER YOU DO. SO PUSH YOURSELF FORWARD, BE UNSTOPPABLE, DO MORE TO REACH THOSE GOALS BUT LOOKING ONLY IN YOUR MIRROR TO SEE WHAT ELSE YOU WANT FROM YOURSELF.

THIRD POINT: WALK AWAY FROM YOUR DENIAL. YOUR MIND SHOULD BE SET ON ANYTHING YOU WANT SO YOUR BODY FOLLOWS IT. NOW YOUR MOUTH IS SAYING THAT YOU GOT FAT AND YOU WANNA LOSE WEIGHT; BUT YOU STILL DON’T CONTROL YOUR PORTIONS AND YOUR DAILY LIFE HABITS STILL SUCKS, OR YET DON’T ACCEPT YOU ARE OVER EATING; YOU ALSO LIE SAYING ”I LOSE 2KG” ONLY TO GET OTHER’S ACCEPTANCE (AGAIN), AND YOU CONVINCE YOURSELF ”IT WAS 1.4KG BUT, IS LIKE SAYING 2!!”. MY DEAR, THAT IS NOT EVEN MATHEMATICALLY CORRECT!!!! YOU ARE NOT DECEIVING ANYBODY ELSE THAN YOURSELF!

NUMBER 4: TRY TO BE IN CONTROL. THERE ARE THINGS THAT WILL NEVER DEPEND ON YOU, DO NOT BASE YOUR ACTIONS ON THEM! BUT YOU SHOULD CERTAINLY NOT TO BE DEPENDANT ON OTHERS. AFTER YOU STUDY AND LEARN WHAT IS GOOD FOR THIS NEW PURPOSE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CONTROL WHAT YOU EAT, HOW LONG AND WITH WHAT FREQUENCY YOU EXERCISE, HOW YOU ORGANIZE YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES… SET CLEAR GOALS WITH A DEADLINE. DON’T WALK TO AN UNKNOWN DESTINY; IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE PURSUING THEN YOU WILL HAVE NO MOTIVATION. ALSO REMEMBER TO DO EVERYTHING BECAUSE YOU WANT TO, NOT ONLY BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO.

THE FIFTH ASPECT IS ACCEPTANCE. ACCEPT WHAT YOU ARE AT ABOUT TO START. TRUST YOURSELF, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. CONFIDENCE IS THE BIGGEST THING YOU SHOULD OWN. TO BE CONFIDENT IS HAVING HALF OF THE WAY ALREADY WALKED. YOU GOT THIS! FEEL YOU GOT THIS! KNOW YOU GOT THIS!

SIX AND NOT LESS IMPORTANT: TO FAIL IS A LEARNING, IS THE BEST ROAD TO THE UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR PROCESS. DO NOT BE SCARED OF IT! FAILURE IS YOUR ALLY, IS ONE OF YOUR MASTERS. IT TELLS YOU WHAT YOU SHOULD READJUST. NOT ACHIEVING WHAT YOU WANTED IN THE PERIOD YOU WANTED IT, WILL MAKE YOU REINVENT YOUR STRATEGIES. BUT AS I ALSO SAID, IF YOU SHOULDN’T START YOUR PATH BASED ON OTHER’S OPINION, YOU ALSO MUST NOT PUT THE BLAME OF YOUR FAILURES OUTSIDE. RECOGNIZE YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG, IDENTIFY WHAT IT WAS, THEN DON’T STOP, MOVE ON,  NOW YOU’RE MORE WISE THAN BEFORE!

LAST POINT: DON’T LOSE YOURSELF IN THE PROCESS. IF YOU STARTED THE TRAVEL TO YOUR HEALTH IT WAS NOT TO FIT IN THE TRENDY JEANS; IT WAS MORE THAN ANYTHING TO BE YOU, TO RESCUE THAT PERSON WHO USED TO FEEL ACTIVE, CAPABLE OF DO THINGS AND COMPLEAT TASKS, HAPPY, FREE FROM EXCESSIVE STRESS HOW YOU USED TO BE. SO GIVE YOURSELF TIME TO REST, EVEN IS RECOMMENDABLE IF YOU ARE EXERCISING. DO THE THINGS YOU LOVE TO DO. MAKE TIME FOR YOU AND FOR LEARNING NEW THINGS. MEET PEOPLE WITH YOUR SAME INTERESTS THAT WILL HELP YOU GROW. MAKE OTHERS LISTEN WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY BECAUSE THIS IS YOUR PATH; NOT YOUR FITNESS TRAINER’S LIFE, NOR YOUR DOCTOR’S. IF YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR ESSENCE INTO SOMETHING, MUST BE ONLY TO BECOME A HAPPIER YOU!
