”The fight of the century(the real one).”

Everybody was expecting this!

The tension among observers in the site and expecting public in general, could have been cutted with a knife during the waiting hours. The event reunited experts from all over the globe as none of the must renowned were wanting to miss the opportunity of talking about it. Both groups of fighters had the reputation of being so bad that could hurt your heart by hitting from your mouth.

On one side the most demonizeds. A team with a decades of bad records (since early 60’s), history that recently was staggering due to leaked evidences. It seems like a certain group of people with secundary bad intentions(or good ones, for them, because they had multimillionary “green” reasons) was the cause of the last 50 years of giving horrible reputation to this contendents and now, nobody knows what to beleive about this matter anymore. It was a deep well studied strategy, the media agreed with them and this confabulation lead to have our character in this hated position nowadays. Well, we have to be honest and say people love these guys in secret but they don’t wanna know anything about having them around, they are like those negative heroes. They are killers, all of them, or that’s what the media made us beleive so.

On the other side, well those have no way better reputation, but almost everybody beleived the story that our group of secret(and multimillionary) influencers told about that the adversaries in this fight were worst. So the leader of this second band have been doing damage slyly; and even worst, he surrounded himself with fancy partners of trendy names and nice innocent figure to replace him in the public life, almost none knows that those guys are more dangerous than him and more capable of damage anybody.

So the fight was gonna take place.

Fancy ads were spread all over the media. The announcements simply said: ”FATS vs SUGAR”

Detractors of both groups facing each other. Which one is the real badass in the story?

After the latest international discusions about Nutrition and Health, the experts have conclude that we have been blaming fats for everything and cathegorizing all of them as bad; based on the fact that this is what the huge food industry have been selling us, to make us deviate our sight from the damage that sugar do to our health; because, let’s  be honests, you can avoid buying a butter barr but a candy or a chocolate well, with those you think it twice, more if you have kids. Sweets are easily and largely more sell. Money rules!

In our mind was sown this: eating fat makes us overweight and damage our heart and blood vessels and everything inside us. About sugar we did learn that, if we have sugar problems those should be avoided, and is good to reduce the consumption during diet. But the real hidden story is a bit different.

SUGAR MAKES YOU GAIN WEIGHT, MORE THAN FATS!

Even if you eat it directly or if you consume an excess of carbs that your body magically convert in sugar it’s all a lethal path more or less like this: too much sugar make your cells sleepy and they can’t respond to insuline, the insuline can’t work burning the sugar because the cells are sleepy and do not receive them. If sugar is not going anywhere your body thinks there’s not enough insuline to take that sugar out and produces it more and more and it travels in your blood and you get used to have that insuline there doing nothing, so you become resistant to its action; and bye bye well functioning metabolism. Also your cells are numb,  and insuline is not working so you can’t burn all that sugar and you start storing it, but not as that sweet delicios thing, you store it in the form of FAT.

YOU CAN’T GET RID OF THE FATS IN YOUR DIET BECAUSE YOU NEED THEM 

They help in the control of your blood sugar levels as there are quality fats forming your cells walls that metabolize(process) better the insuline. It is the vehicle by which our cells receive certain essential nutrients, like Vitamins A, D, E, and K. The myelin sheaths around our nerves are eighty per cent lipids, which means fat is actually required to think or respond to stimulation. Fats are energy for you, consuming the good ones makes you feel less hungry and you do not over eat; also if you take them, your organism works normally and burn it instead of saving it. It’s easy to understand  this way: you put this fuel and your body uses it; you don’t put fuel and your body will pass to ”save energy mode” and stores as more fat as possible instead of burning it. That’s why the very restrictive diets are proven not to work, because they produce the contrary effect after a while.

SUGAR, NO MATTER HOW YOU CALL IT, MIGHT DAMAGE YOU THE SAME, BUT ALL THE FATS ARE NOT EQUAL

Saturated and trans are harmful and present in processed or fried food; but monounsaturated( are good and finded in nuts, olive, canola, peanut, avocado…), polyunsaturated(are even useful containing omega3 like salmon, herring, sardines, trout, flaxseed, walnuts, canola; and omega6 in tofu, seeds, walnuts, vegetable  oils…). Good fats protect your heart and blood vessels, and makes your organs in general working properly. Recent studies also resulted that normal-fat and low-carbs diet were more helpful than low-fat normal-carbs diets. Point for the fats group!

THEN HOW COULD WE OBTAIN THE SUGAR WE NEED?

There are also “good” carbs (Such as dairy, beans, high fiber whole fruits, berries, vegetables, 100% whole grains food, nuts…)  that you can use moderately to get the required sugar levels without needing to consume sugar directly or the bad carbohydrates.

ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS? 

Like the devil, we don’t want to beleive he can get into us and damage us inside because it is our convenience. Same happens with artificial edulcorants. Yes, according to FDA they do not cause cancer, just that. They give the sweet flavour without the calories intake but have many substances that trick our body and scientists don’t know the long term consecuencies of using them as there are not conclusive studies, because the researches were made with way less amount than what people consume daily in diet sodas for example, so is up to you to take the risk. Also, while you are dieting, it can produce more sugar craving or create the false perception on peoples mind. Then they are like ” Ok I am taking edulcorants in my coffe and diet soda so I can allow me to have a cake, or a half pizza (family size)”. I know many that do so, for real!

PROCESSED FOOD: FRANKENFOODS!

The hidden high amount of sugar, salt, trans fats, artificial edulcorants and colorants and chemichals of every kind in processed food is something scary to take in consideration. Processed food is silently killing us.

At this point, who won the battle between fats and sugar? Which one could damage our health more? Experts keep saying that the vote is devided; but at least now the public have more refferencies about what to do. We know that the second group is not as harmless as it seems; also that among fats there are good guys too.

WITHOUT TAKING A UNIFIED DECISION IN THIS MATTER AND BASED ON LATEST STUDIES, NUTRITIONISTS ARE SAYING‘BACK TO BALANCED DIETS OVER RESTRICTIVE DIETS IS THE TREND. THAT’S WHAT WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOWADAYS FOR PATIENTS WANTING TO GAIN OR LOSING WEIGHT; ALSO IF THEY ARE TRYING TO CONTROL OR AVOID ANY DISEASE. THE ONLY EXCLUSIONS ARE PEOPLE WITH PARTICULAR HEALTH PROBLEMS WHERE CERTAIN FOODS ARE LIFE THREATENING”.
